BIOGRAPHY

Called to the Nigerian Bar on 22nd October, 1987 Eyo O. Ekpo is a seasoned lawyer and public policy expert with extensive experience in law, regulation, and infrastructure policy. He holds certificates in Management, Utilities Regulation, and International Gas & LNG Business. His academic qualifications include:

    LL.B. (1986) – University of Calabar.
    LL.M. (1991) – University of Lagos.
    M.A. in War Studies (2018) – King’s College, Londo

Eyo practiced law extensively between 1987 and 2007, becoming a partner at GCM Onyiuke’s Chambers and later a founding partner at The Law Union, which was Nigeria’s largest partner-led law firm at the time. A pioneer in telecommunications law and project finance, he transitioned to public service in 2001.

In his public sector career, he served as:

    Team Leader – Power Sector Reform Team (PSRT), Bureau of Public Enterprises.
    Attorney-General & Commissioner of Justice – Cross River State.
    Special Adviser, Special Projects – Cross River State.
    Commissioner, Market Competition & Rates – Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC)

He resigned from NERC in June 2015 to join General Electric Corporation (GE), where he led its Rail Transportation Business in Nigeria. In 2018, he resigned from GE to contest for the Governorship of Cross River State under the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Currently, Eyo has returned to the private sector, serving as:

    Director – Total Support Limited, Port Harcourt
    Director – New Frontier Development Limited, Abuja
    Founder/CEO – Excredite Limited, Abuja

Widely recognized as a thought leader in project finance, infrastructure policy, law, and regulation, he is regularly consulted by development finance institutions (DFIs), as well as public and private sector clients.

Personal Life & Interests:

Eyo is married to Dr. Oluranti Ekpo, a medical doctor and highly regarded public health specialist. His hobbies include history, international relations, golf, and motorcycle riding.
